No, I'm not a physicist. (Or to paraphrase Dr. McCoy, "I'm a kindergarten teacher, not a physicist!" I'm not a Trekkie either, by the way, so don't get any ideas.) Luminiferous Ether -- it has a nice ring to it, don't you think? You can read what a real scientist has to say about it here, or use the description I prefer, found in Bob Harris' wonderful book Prisoner of Trebekistan: pervasive invisible space goo that doesn't exist. I especially like the "luminiferous" part, because I am a Quaker, the Light is one term used to refer to Divine Spirit and early Quakers were sometimes called "Children of the Light."
Welcome to the first post of my blog, or as I like to think of it, my extended, never-ending holiday letter, the director's cut. Bwahahahaha. Here be dragons. Here be also musings, rantings, ramblings, gleanings, wheat, chaff, and everything that can be fit into a soapbox.

Hi Suzy,
Beautiful beginning! Will there be recipes? Little-known facts? Will there be "Kids Say the Darndest Things" entry on Fridays? Tales about folkdancing?
Pictures! I want pictures.
Welcome to the blogosphere. It's just grand to see you here.

PS: I hate to break it to you, but EVERYONE has a Republican bone in their elbow. It's called the funny bone. Ha ha ha.
Caroline and Chuck: old friend, new friend. Your comments mean a lot. Recipes to follow. Any requests? Ham with Cocola? Scheduling surgery to have Republican bone removed.
Here be liberal-nazi nut-jobs, if you ask me! I bet you're one of those people that think the last two presidential elections were stolen, the climate is changing and the terrorists hate us for something other than our freedom!
God Bless America (and nobody else!)
Ed: I will deal with you later, you naughty boy!
I shudder to think that someone like you is responsible for educating the nation's children. You probably don't even force them to recite the Pledge of Allegiance! Probably some excuse about "Constitutional Rights." I wouldn't even be surprised if you have a "peace flag" in your room instead of Ol' Glory!
And the littlest Billy Goat Gruff trip-trap-tripped across the bridge and munched the sweet grass on the other side of the valley.
